The house

Marakasa is a beautiful village house from the 17th century, with thick stone walls and a Catalan vault. Not many years ago, it was in front of the sea. Then the tourism boom began and apartments were built in front of it. Today it is located in the center of Sant Antoni de Calonge, next to the Church square. On the south side, it faces Sant Antoni street, the main street of the village. On the north, it faces a private passage located on Artur Mundet street, across from number 85, where historically, carts entered. And this will be your entrance, directly to the patio.

In the patio, a shady, cool, and green space, we have placed several tables where breakfast is served in the summer. From the patio, access is provided to the Earth room and also to the upstairs, where the other three rooms, Forest, Sea, and Fire, are located around a terrace: a shared space, with several tables, where to sit, discuss the play, drink and eat something, and enjoy the coolness of the night.

The house has a long history, spanning generations. It was known as Can Toledo, although no one knows the origin of that name. Initially, it was a manor house, where the owning family lived, taking care of their animals and fields, and surely they also went fishing. With the start of the tourism boom in the 50s and 60s of last century, apartment construction skyrocketed. The village gained a new first line of sea, and it was protected from storms.
