We didn’t know Sant Antoni until we moved here. Now we like it so much that we want to share it with you. That’s why we’ve created MARAKASA in a three-hundred-year-old village house; an individual and shared space where you can spend a few days near the sea and the mountains, close to everything that Sant Antoni, the Empordà, and the Costa Brava have to offer. Additionally, since the C-31 was opened, which branches off from the AP-7, it takes about an hour and fifteen minutes from Barcelona, and about twenty minutes from Girona via Llagostera.

The Environment
Sant Antoni de Calonge is a town that grew from a few fishermen’s houses. At Marakasa, we are in the second line from the sea, about two minutes from the beautiful bay of Sant Antoni and Palamós, with crystal-clear beaches that stretch along approximately nine kilometers. Parallel to the sea is the magnificent Sant Antoni promenade, which connects, to the left, with the Palamós promenade and takes you to the very heart of one of the country’s main fishing ports. There you can visit the fish auction and immerse yourself in the authentic maritime atmosphere of the Costa Brava.

The House
Marakasa is a beautiful 17th-century village house, with thick stone walls and a Catalan vault. Not many years ago, it was in front of the sea. Then the tourist boom began and apartments were built in front of it. Today, it is located in the center of Sant Antoni de Calonge, next to the Church square. On the south side, it faces Sant Antoni Street, the main street of the town. On the north side, it faces a private passage located on Artur Mundet Street, in front of number 85, where carts used to enter. And this will be your entrance, directly to the patio.

The Garden
Our garden is one of the most special corners of the accommodation: a carefully maintained space for you to enjoy tranquility, nature, and the outdoors. Here you can have breakfast in the sun, read under the shade of the trees, or simply relax at the end of the day.

The Rooms

Forest Room
From this room, located just above the entrance, where carts used to pass, we have preserved the original bathroom, with a ’60s atmosphere, when this part of the house stopped being the chicken coop and became rooms. However, the shower has been expanded and modernized. It faces south and gets plenty of sun.

Sea Room
Next to the Forest Room, along with the one that used to form the old chicken coop. In the sixties, it was integrated into the house as two rooms. Now, we have converted it into one, resulting in the smallest bedroom, which is compensated by a very spacious and sunny bathroom.

Fire Room
It is part of the original house; located on the upper floor, the door also opens to the terrace, but to the north side. The original stone walls of the house invite you to transport yourself to the past, when time was measured differently.

Earth Room
It opens directly to the patio. It consists of two areas and a bathroom. The main bedroom is the most cozy of the entire house. The other space, which can be a living room or bedroom, because it has a sofa bed, has glass sliding doors that open to the patio, making it part of it.
